GOD. The great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence. – Mary Baker Eddy
Scientific Statement of Being: There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite 468-11 manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual. – Mary Baker Eddy
These two quotes I learned as a small child, and they have always resonated and stayed with me throughout my life. These are thoughts that, in a large part, have formed the basis for my journey of contemplation and discovery of the true, spiritual source and nature of all.
As I have journeyed along this path, I have come to realize that all matter, even that which we call energy, is only given seeming substance by Mind, the source of all. The driving force for this is Love, which is the source of all creativity, and that is truly our function as thinking beings, perceiving matter to have substance – to be creative; to explore the possibilities presented by the idea of “matter” and to express the joy, passion, excitement, appreciation and yes, even the fun and humor to be found in this existence. It is only necessary that we awaken to, embrace and trust in our true existence and source to access the infinite abundance, beauty and diversity available to us. We are each part of the Divine infinite, a unique expression, and are directly connected to every other. When we recognize this complete oneness, we realize that we are not, and cannot ever be, truly alone or lonely.
Scarcity is but an illusion. When we hold fast to our true source, infinite Mind, everything imaginable is available at all times, in abundance. We just need to reach out and it is there in our grasp, just as we imagine it to be. The only limitations we truly have, are those we impose on ourselves, by our belief that matter is real, and limited in form, amount and accessibility.
While it seems that we are contained in a body, the truth is that the body is contained and maintained by Mind, as is all matter, and thus we are never truly born, nor can we ever die; mortal life is but an illusion. It is a beautiful and wonderful illusion and need have no other purpose but as an expression of creativity, joy, love … a playground, or work of art, medium of expression (choose whatever metaphor works for you), of Mind. To recognize and truly understand this fact is to never be ill, to never experience pain, to never die. It is this awareness that allows metaphysical healing, and mere glimpses produce seeming miraculous changes in the physical world, which are in truth, only natural, given our true Spiritual nature. As we journey forward toward true Spiritual consciousness, this becomes clearer, until we break through and own our true selves and begin a new journey, free from the erroneous belief that we are material or mortal. That is not to say that we will no longer experience the idea of “matter”, but our interaction with that idea will be from a place of Love, understanding and creativity. We will approach this medium of expression with joy and fun – the playful children of God that we truly are.
